Founded in 1946, originally making leather & stainless steel arch supports, various components for shoe repair & shoe related raw materials.
Over the years, the line was expanded to include therapeutic shoes & in 1971 the first Apex model in the range was the 1201 shoe. Known as the “healing” shoe, as it is made of stretchable spandex & is designed to accommodate a variety of foot problems, injuries, & swelling etc.
By the late 1990’s, having firmly established itself as the most respected & successful therapeutic footwear company in America, Apex developed & launched their Athletic shoes, followed by Women’s & Mens Dress/Casual styles.
Health & Wellness has always been the driving force behind the Apex brand. Medical professionals are also coming to realise the value of therapeutic footwear for their patients.
In 2015, the OHI group added Apex to it’s family of brands. The same principles of industry leading construction, finest materials, exceptional comfort & support will continue, but with a new focus on design & style.
Apex footwear features up to 1/2” removable depth (in 2 or 3 removable insole layers), up to 4 width options, soft linings, and wide last designs. This makes Apex shoes suitable for deep orthotics, adjustable for optimum comfort & very roomy/comfortable for the more difficult to fit feet. Apex also provide a range of Copper Cloud Socks & other footcare accessories.
