It’s always amazing to us at Foot Solutions just how much people are willing to suffer and miss out on before they decide to get help for an ongoing foot problem. “I have suffered with a lot of foot, knee and lower back pain which had significantly curtailed my active lifestyle. I enjoyed lots of walking and didn’t want to give this up but pain and discomfort was stopping me. I tried everything but nothing worked.

I am x-army so, as you can imagine, when the Pedorthist gave me a full list of exercises to do and instructions to follow, I followed them to the letter. It was explained to me that orthotics are one part of the recovery solution but it is very necessary to follow all other instructions given. This ensures a much faster recovery and I am testament to that.
Within a couple of weeks I went back into Foot Solutions to report that the pain in my feet was gone and the pain in knees and lower back was hugely reduced. How many types of foot problems are there?

Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of heel pain. It is the inflammation caused by excessive stretching of the plantar fascia, the broad band of fibrous tissue which runs along the bottom surface of the foot, attaching at the bottom of the heel bone and extending to the forefoot. When the plantar fascia is excessively stretched, this can cause Plantar Fasciitis, which can also lead to foot problems such as heel pain, arch pain, and heel spurs. Read More
A heel spur is an abnormal growth of the heel bone, the largest bone in the foot which absorbs the greatest amount of shock and pressure. Calcium deposits form when the plantar fascia pulls away from the heel area, causing a bony protrusion, or heel spur to develop. The plantar fascia is a broad band of fibrous tissue located along the bottom surface of the foot that runs from the heel to the forefoot. Heel spurs can cause extreme pain in the rear foot, especially while standing or walking. Read More
A Bunion is a bony protrusion of the big toe joint that can cause friction and pain when wearing shoes. It is a common foot problem, mainly affecting the female population due to improper footwear. Read more
Achilles Tendonitis is a condition of irritation and inflammation of the large tendon in the back of the ankle. Although it is the largest tendon in the body, it is also the weakest and most prone to injury.
If your calf muscles ache or your Achilles tendon feels swollen or tight, you may be suffering from the condition. Read more
Morton’s Neuroma is a common foot problem associated with pain, swelling and/or an inflammation of a nerve. It usually occurs at the ball-of-the-foot between the 3rd and 4th toes. Symptoms of this condition include sharp pain, burning, and even a lack of feeling in the affected area. Morton’s Neuroma may also cause numbness, tingling, or cramping in the forefoot. Read more
A hammer toe is a toe that is contracted at the PIP joint (middle joint in the toe) and can lead to severe pressure and pain. Ligaments and tendons that have tightened cause the toe’s joints to curl downwards. Hammer toes may occur in any toe, except the big toe. There is often discomfort at the top part of the toe that is rubbing against the shoe. Read more
Each foot has two arches – the longitudinal arch which runs the length of the foot, and the transverse arch which runs the width. The 26 bones, ligaments & muscles of the foot, along with a tough, sinewy tissue known as the plantar fascia, provide secondary support to the foot. There are also fat pads in the foot to help with weight-bearing and absorbing impact. Arch pain can occur whenever something goes wrong with the function or interaction of any of these structures.
